Fewer positive corona tests, also fewer patients in hospital | Inland

Between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, the institute received 7,657 reports of positive tests. In the previous 24 hours, the RIVM recorded 7,769 new cases.

The number of deaths caused by Covid-19 increased by 106 in the past 24 hours. That does not mean that all of these people have died in the past 24 hours. This information is sometimes passed on to RIVM with some delay. It was announced on Tuesday that 113 people had recently died from the corona virus.

Over 63,600 positive tests have been recorded in the past seven days. Since the start of the outbreak in February, more than 383,500 Dutch people have been tested positive.

On Tuesday, it was announced that the number of new corona cases on a weekly basis has fallen for the first time in two months. However, the RIVM also warned that the decline is not yet going fast enough and that the number of infectious people remains high.

Especially in Central and West Brabant things are not going well yet. There, the RIVM registered 800 positive tests in the past 24 hours. The Rotterdam-Rijnmond safety region followed with 768 new cases. Utrecht recorded 622 new infections, followed by Twente (458) and Hollands-Midden (444).

Hospital figures

Hospitals received slightly fewer corona patients on Wednesday. In total, Dutch hospitals now treat 2572 corona patients. That is 81 fewer than Tuesday, reports the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS).

There are now 612 corona patients in intensive care units, 3 more than the day before. Most people with Covid-19 are in a nursing ward.

Due to the busyness, 42 patients were transferred to hospitals in other regions in the past 24 hours, 9 of whom were IC patients. Many corona patients are hospitalized in large cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague.
