Fewer NS trains this weekend due to staff failure

The Dutch Railways will run fewer trains this weekend because fewer staff are available due to corona. As a result, fewer intercity trains run on the Amsterdam-The Hague and Schiphol-Utrecht-Arnhem/Nijmegen routes. Fewer Intercity Direct trains also run on the high-speed line between Amsterdam, Schiphol and Rotterdam.

In any case, some of the sprinters on the Utrecht-Hilversum-Hoofddorp line will also be canceled tomorrow. That may already be the case today; NS doesn’t give a definitive answer yet. The company advises travelers to check the online travel information before departure.

The railway company has been struggling with personnel problems as a result of corona infections and quarantine rules for some time. From Monday, the timetable will therefore be scaled down further. There will be fewer intercity trains on four lines and fewer sprinters on one route. Other routes will be added until February 21. From 21 February, 85 percent of the trains will still be running, NS says.
