On Sunday, for the first time this year, less than 100 new corona patients were admitted to nursing wards in hospitals. In the past 24 hours, 96 new patients with Covid-19 were admitted to the nursing wards. In total there are still 1104 corona patients there, 25 fewer than Saturday.
There are now 610 corona patients in intensive care. That is eight more compared to the day before. The total number of corona patients in Dutch hospitals fell for the sixth day in a row on Sunday, by 17 to 1714.
“The influx and occupancy in hospitals continue to follow a downward trend, despite a small increase in the number of admissions on the ic Sunday. According to our forecasts, this decline will continue in the near future, ”the LCP said in an explanation.
Because it is still busy in the hospitals, five corona patients, including one IC patient, have been transferred to hospitals in other parts of the country last 24 hours.
Also less positive tests
The average number of corona infections in the past week fell further on Sunday to the lowest level since February 21. In the past seven days, RIVM registered an average of 4,036 infections per day.
Between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, 3,471 new corona cases were registered at the RIVM. That is 963 less compared to Sunday a week ago. Compared to Saturday, the number of positive tests did increase, by 268.
The number of corona cases is steadily decreasing per week. A total of 28,262 people were tested positive last Monday to Sunday. In the week before there were more than 38,000 and the week before more than 52,500.
The number of deaths from corona has increased by eight in the past 24 hours. That’s not to say that all of these people died in the last 24 hours. If a corona patient dies, this is sometimes only passed on after a while. Nineteen deaths were registered on Saturday.
Regions
Most corona infections were diagnosed in Rotterdam last 24 hours, a total of 176. Amsterdam had 130 new cases and The Hague 120. Relatively many new corona infections were also discovered in Utrecht (71) and Tilburg (64).
Since the outbreak started, more than 1.6 million people in the Netherlands have been tested positive. More than 17,500 people are certain to have died of the virus.
