“Better hand hygiene and the elimination of shaking hands mean less bacteria and viruses are exchanged, so that pregnant women were also less exposed to pathogens,” says Professor Irwin Reiss in a press release.
“We also don’t think we saw any extra effect from the lockdown because pregnant women were already cautious anyway. They may have already kept their distance from others before the government started advising more explicitly.”
