Fewer and fewer take-offs and landings: IHK is worried about Dresden’s airport

Because fewer and fewer flights are taking off from Dresden Airport, the IHK appeals to the Saxon government.

Dresden – From the Dresden Airport start fewer and fewer flights. While in 2019 there were a total of 127 weekly connections to Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Düsseldorf, Cologne / Bonn and Stuttgart, according to the current plan there will be only 65 weekly flights in winter 2021.

The Dresden Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) therefore fears a crash landing and warns against decoupling the airport from international air traffic.

Background to the appeal: According to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, there are now increasing indications that domestic German air traffic to and from Dresden should be completely stopped.

IHK President Andreas Sperl (74) therefore calls on the Saxon government to communicate with the airlines about their plans immediately.

If the important line connections, in particular to Frankfurt and Munich, should cease to exist, the future viability of the entire “unique” economic region will be up for grabs, according to Sperl.

After all, the connection and the quick accessibility are central factors for the expansion and settlement of companies.
