FEW Spirits, a brand of the US company Samson & Surrey, has been cooperating with US rock bands for some time. Two irregularly limited bottled whiskeys, created in collaboration with “Black Rebel Motorcycle Club” and “Alice in Chains”, recently reached the German market.
There are three whiskeys in the FEW Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Motor Oil: the house-made bourbon, one finished in ex-rum casks and the other in ex-vermouth casks, and a mesquite-smoked wheat whiskey of unknown origin. FEW Spirits distills its bourbon in its own distillery in Evanston in the US state of Illinois on a copper pot still based on a mashbill of 70 percent corn, 20 percent rye and ten percent barley malt. For the main maturation, the classic use is made of new, burnt-out barrels made of American white oak. There is no age indication. It is bottled with an alcohol content of 50.5 percent and without coloring. The result, according to the tasting notes, is highly aromatic and complex, grassy and sweet from the ex-rum casks, herbal, bitter and green from the ex-vermouth casks and heavily smoky.

FEW Alice in Chains – All Secrets Known is a bourbon whiskey for which the house bourbon was allowed to mature for six months in ex-tequila casks after the main maturation in new, burnt-out barrels made of American white oak. After an unknown maturation period, FEW Spirits bottled it with an alcohol volume of 50.5 percent and no coloring. According to the tasting note, the strong, sweet and spicy notes of the FEW bourbon are accentuated by grassy agave tones.

The limited editions of FEW Spirits are sporadically bottled in small quantities. A contingent of unknown size has now found its way into German specialist retailers. The recommended retail prices are 67.99 euros for the 0.7-liter bottle of FEW Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Motor Oil and 69.99 euros for the 0.7-liter bottle of FEW Alice in Chains – All Secrets Known.
