Few compatriots remain in Europe

MEXICO CITY, August 13 (EL UNIVERSAL).- Thirteen Mexicans are about to begin or have already begun their respective tournaments in Europe.

Rodrigo Huescas (FC Copenhagen) and Emilio Rodríguez (Celta de Vigo) are the new additions for this new 2024-2025 season, after being signed in this summer market.

Julián Araujo will leave Barcelona to join Premier League side Bournemouth. The Californian was only introduced to his team’s board on Monday.

Both West Ham’s Edson Álvarez and Fulham’s Raúl Jiménez will retain their places in the English league, which starts on Friday, August 16.

Santiago Giménez bagged the Dutch Cup a week ago and has just begun his participation in the Eredivisie, as has Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, who will enjoy his last six months in the Netherlands before leaving for the United States.

Midfielder Luis Chávez has already played his first two matches of the season, starting the game, although he has not completed the full 90 minutes in either of them.

In the case of Rodolfo Pizarro and Orbelín Pineda, with AEK Athens, both could leave the Greek League earlier than expected; while Pizarro was supposedly no longer going to be considered by Matías Almeyda, Pineda’s club does not want to let him leave for Monterrey.

Despite rumours of his departure to sign for Inter Milan, Johan Vásquez will remain with Genoa in Italy’s Serie A, a team that does not want to let him go.

César Montes will continue his journey on the other side of the pond, although in the Second Division of Spain. Our compatriot could see his first minutes against Racing de Santander next Sunday.

Scotland’s defender Juan Portales has started the first two games of the tournament.
