Twist in Marseille, where Jannik Sinner withdrew a few minutes before taking the field for the second round of the ATP 250 tournament. The South Tyrolean tennis player therefore decided at the last moment not to take part in the French hard-court competition.
“After the final in Rotterdam I started not feeling well – said the number 12 in the world – In the last few days I had little energy, I couldn’t train at my best, I even had some fever. We waited until the last possible moment before making a decision but unfortunately my body is not in the right conditions to take part in this tournament”.

The blue is back from two consecutive weeks on the field between Montpellier (won tournament) and Rotterdam (defeat in the final against Medvedev). Sinner should have faced the French Arthur Fils, in a rematch of the challenge already staged a few days ago in Montpellier. Jannik is now expected at two important events, the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells and Miami. Fils however advances to the quarterfinals without playing.
