The “Radio Naba” Top 100 of the year is one of the oldest traditions of “Radio Naba”, which for 20 years has been reviewing the compositions most listened to by listeners of the foreign Top 25 of “Radio Naba” and the Top 10 national. the top will be broadcast on “Radio Naba” on January 1st.
Along with world-famous music bands like “Pixies”, “Laibach” and “Sea Power”, new and legendary national music groups – “ŠŅĶ” (“Opportuniste” – 6th place), “DJ Kankenwagen” (“Tumanin” – 7th place), “Postini giallo” (“The world turns in space” – 9th place) and “Podruga” (“Don’t Let Me Down” – 10th place).
The dark folk and country group “Juuk” won the hearts of listeners this year with the composition “Poet”, taking the honorable third place in the rating. In 2021, the composition of the group “Harlekin” took 4th place. The musical association “Fever Ray” has also been one of the favorite groups of “Radio Naba” for several years – already in 2017 they won first place in the Radio Top 100 with the composition “To The Moon And Back”.
Both charts of “Radio Naba” include 405 current compositions in 2022, of which 40% are works by Latvian artists. Compositions of various styles as well as a wide range of countries and languages are represented in the chart. Listeners gave nearly 48 thousand marks for the compositions. In the twenty years since the Top 100 was created, radio listener engagement and active opinions about their favorite music have grown dramatically.
Radio instructors Nora Rieksta, Dace Otomere, Jānis Vuguls, Gatis Gavars, Įrts Šolis, Kaspars Eglītis, Valters Mednieks and Atis Žagars presented listeners’ favorite compositions of “Radio Naba” for eight hours. The Top 100 Songs list includes compositions that have been in the Top 25 and Top 10 of “Radio Naba” in LV throughout the year. A prediction game was also organised, where it was possible for listeners to determine which compositions will rank in the top three places.
