Continuing the more than 20-year-old tradition, also this summer, within the framework of the International Festival of Contemporary and Video Art “Water Pieces” in AB dam from Wednesday to July 7 every Wednesday evening there will be an opportunity to get acquainted with global current events and trends in the world of video art. representatives of the art center “Noass” informed about its wide manifestations.
The festival will consist of a series of 11 separate events, which will begin with a selection of the International Oberhausen Short Film Festival on July 7 at 19.00.
In cooperation with partner festivals, a program has been created especially for the festival “Water Pieces”, which will be revealed every week in video art selections with an additional introductory lecture. The program will include selections from major festivals such as the Japan Media Art Festival, ARS Electronica, the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival and AG Kurzfilm, while for the first time the festival program includes a selection from the Finnish Turkish Video Art Festival as well as specially selected video selections from “SPLIT” festival in Serbia and “SIMULTAN” in Romania.

The collection of selections from these festivals is designed to broaden perceptions of the diversity of contemporary video art, while also calling to keep local contexts in mind. “
On September 15, the festival “Water Pieces” will end with a program that combines works from the Latvian video art archive.
The films will be shown in the original language with English subtitles, and admission to the video art screenings is free. The festival was supported by Riga City Council.
