For its 2023 edition, the Reflets du Cinéma festival focuses on Brazil! Whether they talk about minorities, indigenous peoples, the forest or even resistance to the powerful, Brazilian cinematography has long carried within it avant-garde, experimentation, interbreeding and hybridity.
With MORE THAN 40 FEATURE FILMS (fiction, animation, documentary, experimental), but also short films, this edition will attempt to explore the aspects of contemporary Brazilian cinema and its artistic, societal and political issues, and this in particular, through thematic focuses or carte blanche.
15 guests will be present at the festival and will be able to share their experiences and views such as Bárbara Colen – guest of honor and actress, Sylvie Debs – specialist in Brazilian cinema, Claire Allouche – critic at Cahiers du Cinéma, Alberto da Silva – specialist in Portuguese-speaking culture, Béatriz Rodovalho – programmer of the Brazil in Movements festival or Gregorio Graziosi – director of Tinnitus…
Each year, the festival pays particular attention to young audiences and the discovery of cinematographic creation. With this in mind, various workshops are set up and thousands of students are invited to the cinema, within the framework of various school arrangements: Ciné-enfants, Collège au Cinéma and Ciné-high school students.
The Reflections of Brazilian Cinema is also an opportunity to cross other artistic disciplines with the various cultural actors in the department such as visual arts, dance, music, literature with, among others, Marcello Quintanilha – cartoonist invited to Les Reflets and rewarded with a fauve d’or at the Angoulême festival in 2022.
