For decades, in Liepāja, on the open-air stage of Jūrmala Park, on warm summer days, Liepāja residents and health resorts with all their families could enjoy symphonic music concerts. Back in 1783, this initiative was started by the then Duke of Courland Peter Biron.
This year, after a break of several years, the festival “Liepājas vasara” will return to the park, the newly renovated concert garden “Pūt, vējiņi!”
“Liepājas vasara” will start on July 2 with an opera concert, in which the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Atvar Lakstīgala, will perform arias and overtures of well-known operas together with soloists.
The soloists of the concert will be world-famous singers – Latvian bass baritone Egils Siliņš, Italian tenor Dario di Vietri and Serbian soprano Marija Jeliča.
