Festival “Cello Cesis” starts with ambient and electronic music program

This Saturday, September 18, the 7th International Festival “Cello Cesis” will start with the ambient and electronic music program in the Concert Hall “Cesis”.

Concert hall “Cēsis” traditionally begins its new season with its own festival “Cello Cēsis”. The cello festival will not be missed this autumn either, and it will take place in four concerts and other events on two weekends from September 18 to September 26. The aim of the festival is to discover a new cello sound, versatility and repertoire of the musical instrument for its listeners, creating both classical and completely unusual programs.

This year, the opening evening of the festival on September 18, when the concert “Cello Cēsis Ambient” will take place, is also dedicated to new searches. Three sets or three programs in one evening will reflect different genres and directions of music, marking a different cello sound space each time. In a sense, this concert continues the cycle of the permanent repertoire of the Concert Hall “Cēsis” “Ambiente stage”, which over the years has already attracted a reliable circle of listeners.

“Cello Cēsis Ambient” evening will be opened by one of the artists of this year’s residence, cellist Margarita Balanas and her ensemble, minimalist, electronics and acoustic music. will conclude the latest concert program of the Polish composer, cellist and independent music scene Resina in collaboration with percussion master Mateusz Rychlicki.

It should be noted that in the evening before the opening of the 7th International Festival “Cello Cesis”, on Friday, September 17, the Concert Hall “Cesis” invites to an informal opening event in the hospitable art space “Mala”, where your favorite music will be shared and evening DJs will be “Cello Cesis” Ambient ”artists. Participation in the event is free of charge upon presentation of an interoperable Covid-19 vaccination or disease certificate.
