As announced by the former president of the Regularization Committee of the Salvadoran Football Federation (FESFUT), Humberto Sáenz Marinero, FIFA announced that it will appoint new members to serve on the committee for the next 8 months, with the aim of continuing the federation’s activities as normal.

“We remind you that the mandate of the current composition of this Regularization Committee ends on August 31, 2024.

We take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to all members for the work and dedication demonstrated throughout the entire period of their mandate,” the letter states.

“We are confident that the work carried out has left a positive legacy that will guarantee the continuity and development of Salvadoran football, in accordance with the objectives established in the mandate approved by the FIFA Council Bureau on July 31, 2022,” he added.

FIFA stressed that the internal administrative management of FESFUT, as well as that of its committees, must continue the course of their activities normally, without being affected by the changes in the composition of the Regularization Committee, so it said that in the coming days it will inform the federation of the new composition of the Regularization Committee, whose mandate will extend until April 30, 2025, as decided by the FIFA Council Bureau on August 27, 2024, says the letter signed by Kenny Jean Marie, director of Member Federations of the entity.

Previously, Sáenz Marinero said that the Regularization Committee that FIFA appointed in 2022 had no desire to continue serving as the highest authority of the country’s federated football, so FIFA should make decisions to maintain the order and normality of the federation.

After FIFA’s letter was made public, Sáenz Marinero’s reaction was not long in coming, and he wrote on social media: “Thank you very much for the opportunity. It was a challenging experience, but, above all, rewarding.

We did it for our country and for our football.” In August 2022, FIFA appointed Humberto Sáenz Marinero as the president of the committee, who was accompanied by Fernando Argüello Téllez, Luis Segovia and Henry Orellana during the two years of management.

According to Marinero, the only task entrusted by FIFA that was not completed was the holding of elections to choose the new executive committee. Otherwise, “the work is practically finished.”
