Students Verónica Menéndez and Rafael Jiménez received the Fertiberia Chair Award for Agro-Environmental Studies from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) for their Master’s thesis presented last year. The award ceremony took place during the academic ceremony for the release of the UPM Degree Diplomas at the Higher Technical School of Agricultural, Food and Biosystems Engineering.
The prizes, with an economic endowment of 1,000 euros, are called in two ways: Fertilizers, fertilization or its influence on plant production and the relationship between agricultural systems and the environment.
On this occasion, the work entitled “Response of the cultivation of garlic (Allium sativum L.) purple variety to three BAIC products: Nutran FH, Phytotrat and Viacqua in Ciudad Real, Spain” stood out in the first category, presented by Verónica Menéndez Sanchez. For its part, in the second modality, the work “Effect of the incorporation of the maize stove and the use of vetch and barley as cover crops and subsequently as green manure on GHG emissions (N2O, CO2 and CH4) was recognized . ”, Presented by Rafael Jiménez Horcajada.
