Verónica Gonzales, an employee of a greengrocer, told NY1 that the new transport route comes at a time when sales in maritime establishments have been affected by the heat wave.

He added that the closure of the beach due to shark sightings on at least two occasions has reduced the number of bathers who come to the Rockaways.

“There are always sharks. This is your place, do you understand me? As they are not interested in you, that is a way to continue affecting businesses that are small “Gonzales noted. “It has definitely affected us, because despite the heat, we were waiting. The number of people has dropped quite a bit and obviously it’s because of all this shark scaremongering.”
