CURIOSITY (Lampungpro.co): Roro Royce 1 ship caught fire in the waters of Tempurung Island 3 miles from the shore of Merak Banten Port on Saturday (6/5/2023) at around 15.00 WIB. Information received by Lampungpro.co, the ferry departed from Merak port to Bakauheni Port, South Lampung.
On the way there was a fire, which is suspected to have started from one of the vehicles on the ship. The head of the KSKP Merak, Iptu Atep, was confirmed by Lampungpro.co at around 16.25 WIB, confirming the incident.
However, he stated that for the accuracy of the data it is advisable to contact Pol Airut directly in charge of and handle the fire incident on the Roro Royce 1 ship departing from Pier 3 Regular Merak. “Go straight to the Airut Police, Sir, so that the data is accurate,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Merak KSKP AKP Ridho Rafika confirmed via cellphone that the incident was in Merak waters, not in Bakauheni.
After the fire incident on the Roro Royce 1 ship, it is not known in real terms how many vehicles were burnt. However, the Airut Merak Police, who collaborated with the roro ship passing in these waters, began evacuating the ship’s passengers.
Most recently, PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) confirmed that before crossing Tempurung Merak Island, the ship experienced a fire. But at this time the fire can be extinguished.
“The plan is that the KMP Royce 1 will be docked and evacuated in Merak,” said Corporate Secretary of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), Shelvy Arifin.
He added that the BPTD Team, ASDP, Basarnas and related agencies are coordinating to immediately condition the ship to dock in Merak and be able to immediately evacuate all service users. (***)
