Ferro played a good game but couldn’t close it and fell to San José

The cast of Concordia could not at home in its premiere at the Federal Tournament. San José prevailed and began winning in the Entre Ríos Division.

At the start of the Federal Basketball Tournament, the Ferrocarril Club had a good game but ended up losing to Social and Deportivo San José by 78-76 at the Juan de Dios Obregón Gymnasium. In the homeowner, they did not reach the 31 points of Facundo Ortiz while Sergio Ravina finished with 25 points in the winner. Next Friday, the “Expreso” will be local again, welcoming Racing de Gualeguaychú.

In the first quarter, Ferro started very plugged achieving a quick partial of 7 to 0 but with the passing of the minutes the visit reacted and through the task of León Alfonso and Sergio Ravina with six points each one turned the game to stay with the opening segment by 20 to 18. In those first ten minutes, Facundo Ortiz scored seven goals seconded by Obregón and Stanghelini with six and five points respectively.

In the second quarter, San José started with a partial of 9 to 0 to get 29 to 18. The host was more certain than his rival in the free line. Ferro reissued with the outside pitches of Joaquín Ortiz, Stanghelini and Obregón although those led by Martín Amden would go to the long break up 42 to 34. The set was 22 to 16 for “Sanjo” with Sinconi and Ravina scoring six well-matched points for the young Gómez and Leuce with five each.

At the start of the complement, the Railroad began to reduce distances slowly thanks to the stacks of the oldest of the Ortiz, scoring seven points plus a couple of appearances by Truffa with a double and a triple. The visitor was kept up by the opportunism of Ravina and another important bombshell from Sinconi. Partial from 20 to 16 for those led by Martín Segovia who were four down, 58 to 54 at the end of that third quarter.

In the last quarter with a triple from “caio” Truffa and another from Facundo Ortiz made Ferro get up on the scoreboard by 62 to 61 with 7 minutes to play, although the local would lose weight in the paint because Federico Cabrera had to leave the game for five fouls. From there they constantly exchanged the leadership in the score but when Ferro got four (72-68) difference, he got anxious and went wrong. This caused some losses that allowed Sergio Ravina to convert six points in a row for the Sanjosesinos to regain the advantage in the light by 74 to 72. From then on, San José had two fundamental doubles from Gómez that began to close the game. Ferro ran from behind in the last minute but despite the simple converted by Ortiz he could not return to parity and the visitors with Ravina from the line ended up closing the game in his favor. Partial from 22 to 20 for the “Express” in that last boy but victory for Social and Deportivo by 78 to 76.

Despite the fall, the team that played with 100 percent of the players born in Concordia left a good image and it is to be noted that a long time ago that a Concordian team had not played with its totality of basketball born in the city.

Next Friday, those from Buenos Aires and San Juan will return to play at home receiving Racing de Gualeguaychú.
