Ferris wheel at the RAI will probably have to close again immediately after opening: ‘That is very sour’

A big downer for catering entrepreneur Bram Verleg. Today was the opening of his Ferris wheel where Amsterdammers can dine corona proof at a height of 50 meters. Chances are that the wheel after the tonight’s press conference will not run anymore for the time being. It will most likely be announced that the catering industry must close.

‘This is the best way to descend right away’, Bram Verleg says proudly in one of the gondolas of his ‘Smakenrad’. It is the largest Ferris wheel in the Netherlands.

Until now, Verleg does not want to know anything about phasing out. ‘What is the period when we stop?’ He wonders. For a longer period, the catering entrepreneur will ‘seriously’ consider whether he wants to tear down the Ferris wheel.

‘More than enough’

Together with his wife, Verleg came up with the concept of dining corona proof in a Ferris wheel. Verleg is disappointed that it will most likely have to close again the next day after its opening. “That is sour, of course, that is very sour.”

He does not want to say exactly what it cost Bram Verleg to set up the wheel at the RAI. But in any case ‘more than enough’.

The Ferris wheel was supposed to rotate until January 3, but how many more laps the wheel will make remains to be seen.
