The Maranello team arrives in Montecarlo confident of the work done in the factory in recent weeks. Here are the first photos of the new Ferrari rear wing to face the Monaco GP.
The first races of the championship did not meet the expectations of the Prancing Horse riders, engineers and fans. Having reached the first European round, the team led by Vasseur says they are confident about the level of preparation of the car for the Montecarlo GP. Monaco is one of those tracks that could go well with the characteristics of the SF-23, strong in traction and agile in low speed corners. If the single-seater were to confirm itself on these aspects, we could see a good performance from the Prancing Horse. Despite the slippage of updates to the rear suspension, Ferrari brings a new high-load rear wing to Munich. Let’s see how it differs from the specifications seen so far.
Introducing the new high-load rear wing
Ferrari wants to play the weekend in an attacking position and brings a new rear wing to improve traction. The new Munich specification is supported by the monopilon, like on the mid-bass one we’ve seen in past races. The most obvious difference arises on the mainplane, this time with a longer chord and a more accentuated camber to increase the pressure difference above and below the wing. Given the reduced length of the straight and the DRS section, the new specification adopts a decidedly short mobile flap. This however should ensure a good speed increase once opened. Also, it is the nolder is also present to try to further increase the load generated by the new rear wing. The work of the technicians was also concentrated in the area of the endplates, with the upper part having a decidedly wide connection to try to make the rear wing as effective as possible.
This new specification should allow Ferrari to play with the mechanical setup, in order to improve traction and cornering speed.
