The V12 atmospheric engine is traditionally the top of the brand’s offer. Electrification was supposed to be the way to keep this engine, but Ferrari has reportedly decided otherwise now.

According to a source from the proximity of the Italian carmaker, which is quoted by the Carscoops website, the Italians should take the path of turbochargers and reducing the volume of the engine.
–
However, the possibility of mild-hybrid assistance for the legendary unit, which is currently produced in a volume of 6.5 liters, still remains in the game. Ferrari then uses electricity in models such as the SF90 Stradale or LaFerrari.
–
So far, we can only speculate about the official future of the V12 engine, because Ferrari has not commented on this information. In the past, however, the then head of the carmaker Sergio Marchionne stated that he could not imagine a turbocharger with a V12 engine.

Although the V12 is awaiting change, it may not be enough. The bare existence of Maranella internal combustion engines is being addressed in Brussels. According to earlier information, the Italian government is lobbying for exemptions from the European Union’s emissions hunts, including a proposed ban on the sale of cars with internal combustion engines from 2035 to small series supersport manufacturers.
