The Ferrari Rome, yet another masterpiece created by the Maranello company, was awarded the ai Car Design Award, prestigious international event organized every year to reward the design teams that carry out the best projects for series cars in the automotive sector.
The award ceremony of the 2020 edition was held in digital format: Ferrari Roma won the category Production Cars. It was awarded by a jury made up of 12 expert journalists, belonging to the most important and authoritative international automotive magazines.
In the Production Cars category of the Car Design Awards 2020, Ferrari Roma triumphed in front of the projects of the Porsche Taycan, the first electric car of the German brand, and of Land Rover Defender, arrived in second and third place respectively.
The victory was greeted with great enthusiasm by the Cavallino: “The Ferrari design team, led by Flavio Manzoni, has done an incredible job with Roma – reads the official press release issued by Ferrari – This car takes the classic lines of a Gran Turismo and projects them into the twenty-first century through sensual, evocative and avant-garde shapes ”.
Thanks to its typically Italian style, the Ferrari Roma was conceived to reinterpret in a contemporary key the lifestyle of the Eternal City typical of the 50s and 60s, characterized by lightheartedness and the pleasure of living. The interior of the passenger compartment, characterized by a two-seater setting plus two behind, presents well tre display: one acts as a dashboard, another has been positioned in the center console in a vertical position while the third is horizontally in front of the passenger seat.
A unique and inimitable style is combined with an equally exceptional engine: a 3855 cm3 Ferrari F154 twin-turbo V8. The engine is arranged longitudinally in the front-center position and provides a power of 620 horsepower with a maximum torque of 769 Nm.
The Roma is equipped with an 8-speed F1 double clutch transmission, the same as the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, the first hybrid of the Prancing Horse. The numbers are mind-boggling: the maximum speed is 320 km / h, while acceleration allows it to go from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.4 seconds flat.
