It certainly cannot be said that the comfort of passengers has always been a priority for designers Ferrari, and then … which passengers? Only for some time in Maranello have they unhinged the concept that one of their creations could not house more than two, and with the removal of the 1992 456 GT we must move on to the new millennium with the 2004 612 Scaglietti to usher in the modern era in which a Ferrari a four-seater, in a sense, has ceased to be taboo.
Soon another one will be shot down, much more felt by fans. The Thoroughbred SUV, which it already is shown on the track in Fiorano and for streets of Maranello. And the first Ferrari SUV it must necessarily have two souls: one sporty, the other devoted to the comfort of the occupants, who could be pampered with a patented air conditioning system recently by the men of the Cavallino.

The novelty will pivot on a thermal camera set which is entrusted with the task of measuring the temperature of different points of the passenger compartment and of the body of each passenger. The information is then processed by the “brain” of the system together with other fundamental parameters such as the sex of the individual occupant, the size and clothing to get the ideal air conditioning.
This way indeed the system decides which vents to use, how to direct the flow, the speed of the fans and the temperature of the outgoing air in order to cool or heat the passenger compartment in an imperceptible way for the occupants. From one of the images attached to the patent it is clear how the system was designed for cars with rear seats, absent in the current Ferrari range since stop to the production of the GTC4 Lusso.

Although filing a patent does not imply its use, it is likely to be exploited on the Ferrari Purosangue due out in 2022.
