Ferrari, a brand whose great protagonist is Charles Leclerc in Formula One. The Monegasque recently moved everyone.
Charles Leclerc is a great protagonist in Formula One. The Monegasque Ferrari driver, who has five victories and 18 pole positions to his credit, but still no titles conquered in the top automotive series, is certainly one of the greatest generational talents. He who dreams, aims and aspires to become world champion driving a prancing horse car.
An ambition that is currently far from the Monegasque’s ropes, also because in 2022 he was unable to do anything to prevent an extraordinary success for a splendid Max Verstappen. But, in any case, the ex Sauber driver’s hopes for 2023 remain enormous. Though he and Ferrari will have to do without now former team principal Mattia Binotto.
Charles Leclerc, his career between ups and downs
A career between ups and downs, half full and half empty glasses, mistakes, difficult moments and indescribable joys. Charles Leclerc’s first years in Formula One represent a set of very different but still strong emotions. On the one hand, in fact, we find victories such as the Monza GP in 2019, or the splendid one in Bahrain in 2022. But also major disappointments such as in the Monaco, Silverstone or France races in the same year.
In both cases, the sensations were nothing short of remarkable for the Ferrari number 16, for the prancing horse itself and for the fans. But it’s also true that in a course, mistakes by the team or by the rider, everything is perfectly understandable to happen.
Especially since your main rival is a two-time world champion. And who knows, maybe Charles Leclerc’s ups and downs career in 2023 will take a more heated and different turn. Even if, evidently, he will have to do it in the absence of a key figure related to his young Ferrari history. Let’s talk about Mattia Binotto.
Mattia Binotto resigns: Leclerc’s message
It has not been an easy season for Ferrari, albeit topped off with four victories and 12 pole positions, combining the performances of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. Lots of strategy errors, first and foremost with the talented Monegasque, some driving errors and a competitiveness of the single-seater that diminished as the races went by. A result perhaps below expectations, as regards the ambitions of the leaders of the prancing horse. Just think of the words of Benedetto Vigna, CEO of the company, who didn’t take the double second place in F1 very well. And so, Mattia Binotto has decided to resign after four seasons as team principal.
A decision that also made a big impact on Charles Leclercthat commented on the incident on his Instagram profile. The world champion vice-champion commented on everything in a photo where he embraces Binotto himself and with a special thanks: “We spent four very intense years together, full of satisfaction and also, inevitably, moments that put us to the test”.
Leclerc’s words continue with a real certificate of esteem and respect, never changed for the former Ferrari team principal. Finally, good luck for the future. It is not known who will be the team’s new number one, but Binotto’s farewell was certainly very significant for everyone.
