Ferrari has uncovered a new unicorn. SP48 Unica exists in a single copy

It is not uncommon for carmakers to build cars to order for their most respected as well as wealthiest clients – not unlike the way in which the body shops built special bodies for the chassis of various cars in the interwar period. Ferrari is, of course, one of such carmakers – and has introduced its latest creation, called the SP48 Unica, to the public.

The technical basis is the F8 Tributo, which means that the rear wheels are powered by a 3.9-liter supercharged eight-cylinder stored in the middle. The carmaker writes in a press release that the engine is the same, so we can assume that it remained at its 720 horsepower and 770 newton meters. Not that it was small, of course.

The key in this case, of course, is the design, which, if we proceed from the bow, looks alien. It is fundamentally different from the F8 even with less pronounced arches of the front wheel arches and to some extent masked openings for the access of cooling air.

The sides also have a new design with optically larger intake vents and a cabin with blackened A-pillars. It looks a bit like two lacquered panels on the roof sticking out of space; this optical illusion is due to the painting of the strip on the roof, which copies the design of the front intake vents – and also the rear ones in front of the spoiler. Also note that there is no rear window.

The stern was given a decent spoiler and thin lights, which do not even hint at the traditional quartet or at least a pair of circles. A massive diffuser, huge exhaust tailpipes and large hot air vents are a matter of course.

Once we have bitten the lights, notice the side lights on the sides. Moreover, there is no space at all in front of the registration plate – even where the Czech authority would like to stick it, a chrome horse is prominently rising. Of course, the carmaker did not publish the name of the owner of this car, but from these details we can guess that it will go to the USA or some provinces of Canada.

What Ferrari also did not say is the price the customer paid. We can only estimate that it will be in the hundreds of millions of crowns.
