Ferrari boss: Hamilton is not coming to enjoy retirement

Maranello

Ferrari boss John Elkann (48) is expecting his future Formula 1 star driver Lewis Hamilton (39) to give the racing team a huge boost. “He is coming to us to win and we will be stronger with him when it comes to anticipating the challenges of the future,” Elkann told “La Gazzetta dello Sport” in an interview. “We are talking about a great sportsman who is very motivated to become world champion for the eighth time, as the last races have shown. He is certainly not coming to Ferrari to enjoy retirement.”

Ferrari announced Hamilton’s sensational move on February 1st of this year. The seven-time world champion is leaving Mercedes at the end of this season and has a long-term contract with the traditional Italian racing team from 2025. Ferrari was last crowned drivers’ champion in 2007 by Kimi Räikkönen, and the last constructors’ championship was won in 2008.
