Ferrari 250 GT convertible (1961). A stall that came out at 1.2 million euros

A rare late 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet Pininfarina comes back to life after several years of storage in the United States to be put up for sale. Although in need of restoration, the car is being offered for around 1.2 million euros.

The Ferrari 250 family is unanimously recognized as one of the best combinations of sportiness and elegance in the history of the automobile. However, it is varied and everyone has their own preferences, from the GT Berlinetta SWB to the GTO via Europe. One of the most popular is the 250 GT Cabriolet with bodywork by Pininfarina, whose a copy has just been brought out of its barn after several years of oblivion to be offered for sale in the United States from Gull-wing cars.

A completely original car

Two series of 250 GT Cabriolets were produced and the one of the day, the 152nd out of about 200, belongs to the second. Its original dark blue paint is gone, but its red leather upholstery has survived. The numbers of the engine, the chassis but also all body panels match. The history of the car is known and documented. The car left the Ferrari factory in November 1961 and was bought new by an Italian businessman. In 1971, a year after the change of hands, it was exported to the United States where it is still today.

Gull-wing cars

More than a million euros before the restoration

The identifiable requires restoration but it is relatively well preserved. The 240 HP 3.0 V12 engine under the bonnet runs but needs a major overhaul. The car comes with its original registration papers, its own partial tool kit, a set of additional Borrani rims and additionally re-chromed bumpers. It is being offered at a price of $1,275,000, or about 1.2 million euros. A figure surprisingly close to those recently claimed by the Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet Pininfarina in excellent condition.
