Ferrante (FI) to Fuorni: «I will ask for more attention towards the prison of Salerno»

“The level of civilization of a country is measured by observing the conditions of its prisons. This is why I wanted to visit the “Antonio Caputo” prison in Fuorni a Salerno and personally verify the conditions of the facility, finding a very high level of professionalism of the staff alongside some critical elements relating to overcrowding. We want to promote the certainty of punishment but, at the same time, respect for the rights of prisoners who, before being prisoners, are people. For this reason I will ask for more attention towards the prison of Salerno to ensure that detention is dignified and can fully perform its re-educational function“. This was stated by the Forza Italia MP and undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Tullio Ferranteon the sidelines of his visit to the penitentiary as part of the initiative “Summer in Prison” promoted by the blue movement together with the Radical Party. Deputy Ferrante met with the director of the prison, Gabriella Niccolithe president of the Supervisory Court, Monica Amirantethe guarantor of prisoners, Samuel Ciambrielloa representation of the inmates, the prison police officers and the facility staff.

«With a capacity of 376 inmates, the Fuorni prison It hosts 590 of them.
