Saint-Aubin-du-Cormier, Lécousse, Saint-Georges-de-Reintembault, Louvigné-du-Désert, Saint-Sauveur-des-Landes, Luitré-Dompierre, Bazouges-la-Pérouse…
All over the country, mayors have opted for video greetings and posted on the Internet. A fallback solution, for lack of being able to organize the traditional ceremony in public.
“Not decisive”
Louis Feuvrier, mayor of Fougères, the largest city in the sector, did not make this choice.
“We mentioned it but I did not choose this option. It did not appear to me to be a determining factor. The important thing is also the fund ”.
He explains that he favors videos “to promote the city”: “It is also a tool that we will use more and more, especially to present projects to our fellow citizens”.
Letter, chocolates and local press
The mayor of Fougères nonetheless uses “modern means of communication” on the occasion of these vows.
On January 1, at 9 a.m., he addressed the Fougerais via a post on the city’s Facebook page. A message of around thirty lines essentially centered on the year 2020 which “will remain marked in our collective memory”.
And on the optimism he wants to show: “We must consider the year 2021 in a positive state of mind, between health security and a return to a more serene life. […] It is in this state of mind that the municipal team and municipal services continue to act for the future of Fougères. “
Usually, Louis Feuvrier organizes two public ceremonies : one for municipal staff, the other for institutional partners. The two being canceled, he decided to communicate differently but without going off the beaten track.
Monday 4 January, he sent the 410 municipal officers a box. Inside, a box of chocolates to replace the Christmas tree that could not stand in 2020.
And a message co-signed by the Director General of Services, Jean-Jacques Boucher, where he thanked them “very sincerely” for their commitment and their involvement in recent months: “Despite the difficulties and permanent changes, we have been able, together, to maintain a level of quality service for Fougeraises and Fougerais. “
Finally, to expose “the major projects that will be implemented in 2021”, he will send a statement to the local press in mid-January. Once she reports on it, he will post it on the city’s website.
A bit like every year, in short, but without going through the speech box at the Town planners auditorium.
