The Uruguayan goalkeeper conceded a goal from Alan Virginius in the 87th minute of the match, which sealed the tie in favour of the Swiss, after a 3-2 win in the first leg. Muslera reacted by tripping Virginius when he crossed the area to celebrate his goal, which led to the Uruguayan being sent off.
The score remained unchanged and Galatasaray was eliminated from Europe’s top continental competition in the qualifying stages prior to the group stage.
