Fernández: “Unity is the change Argentina needs to diagram another country” – Télam

President Alberto Fernández proposed “unity” as the “change” that Argentina needs to adopt to “diagram another country”, to strengthen “partnerships between the State, the private sector and workers” and regional agreements to “take better advantage of globalization “and banish poverty.

“The (coronavirus) pandemic taught us something that many years ago we Argentines did not practice: unity. And this opportunity will allow us to diagram another country, definitely inclusive, that works to overcome poverty and for that we need investment, production , work and development, “said Fernández.

The President formulated these concepts when speaking at a virtual meeting organized by the Council of the Americas, accompanied by the Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán.

In a long exposition, in which he highlighted the government’s “effort” in the renegotiation of the external debt and asked for the “understanding” of the bondholders regarding the situation in the country, Fernández marked as central axes of his management “investment, production, work and development “and warned that” there is no way to change certain structures “, if not by propping up those premises.

“We want this tragic moment to become an opportunity to make a development system that is more balanced and fairer,” he expressed and called on the countries of the region to “take better advantage of globalization” and join together to see “what better agreements” will be can achieve.

The pandemic (coronavirus) taught us something that many years ago we Argentines did not practice: unity. And this opportunity will allow us to diagram another country, definitely inclusive, that works to overcome poverty

Convinced that the coronavirus “generated undoubted damage to the economic structures of the world”, Fernández recalled that when he came to the government, last December, Argentina already presented “many difficulties”, with “36% poverty, a level of indebtedness that committed almost 100 percent of its GDP “and a high level of inflation.

“The pandemic forces us to think about how to develop a more balanced Argentina; the challenge of the future is to make a country that develops and that no one with a minimum of ethics can live in peace where 4 out of 10 Argentines are poor,” said Fernández. , for whom the key to ending this problem is “investment and employment”.

He admitted that in his objectives, debt “is a great conditioning factor”, he confirmed his commitment so that the effort does not fall “always” on the most vulnerable and insisted: “Ethically the duty we have with these sectors is to lend them a hand and remove them from poverty”.

The “economic prostration” of the country will be deactivated, according to the plan set forth by Fernández, through initiatives focused on public-private production and which also contemplate the development of the Paraná waterway, liquefied gas, agreements with Chile for the exit to the Pacific, non-polluting development of the mining, fishing and software industries, among other items.

“Argentina continues to be a country that structurally has a lot of wealth, which needs the association of the State with private capital,” he stressed and asked to “rejoin”, leave aside the “antipodes” and advance in “agreements that allow reaching more faster, more development and more integrated. “

“We can work together; Argentina in recent years was that of ‘the one and the other’; we must end these false dilemmas”, he judged and postulated a “social agreement” in the new world, which will have “true wealth” “to education, science and technology.

He gave as an example the new satellite developed by Argentina, an achievement that places it among only 10 countries in the world with capacity for that industry, and said that, therefore, “the main challenge” of its management is education.

“Our great concern is that education reaches everyone; if it does, everyone will have a future,” he predicted.
