The day that Fernanda Segovia received her kidney transplant, her outlook on life changed and after that operation he dedicated himself to promoting organ donation in Río Negro.
When campaigns were held there he was steadfast, motivating the community on the importance of donating.
“I wanted to do something. It does not mean that they have not done anything before, but that I want to do it as a patient, contribute my bit, ”he said in an interview with Río Negro, in 2018 when he launched the“ Celebrate Life ”Foundation in Roca.
On Monday the 6th, the news of his death at the age of 58 moved everyone.
“She received a double kidney transplant, she was grateful for life. From her place, she tried to make people aware of what it means to donate, ”said the director of the Roca hospital, Ana Senesi.
For many years he worked hard in the Cucai of Río Negro. “We share different solidarity events to raise money and buy items for the hospital. He also worked a lot in the campaigns in the hemotherapy area for blood donation”, he recalled.

Guillermina Krenz, a Social Service graduate, works at Cucai in Río Negro and spent many years alongside Fernanda to promote donations.
“Her first transplant was in 1994 with a living donor, who was her mother. She later returned to dialysis and retransplanted around 2000, ”Guillermina recalled.
The lawyer pointed out that as a result of her life experience she was indicted in this solidarity campaign and to transmit her experiences to others.
Fernanda had many trainings in the Incucai Patient Advisory Council (CAP). “She was a person who read a lot, she was an impeccable benchmark for extraordinary work, I always emphasize that she did it voluntarily,” she said.
The professional remarked that she was very careful to live in her diet and her treatment after receiving her transplant.
“His life was devoted to his health situation. She was always accompanied by her parents and lived with them until they passed away, ”she said.
Guillermina highlighted that She was one of the few volunteers in Río Negro who formally managed to have an NGO that was the Celebrate Life Foundation that worked in Roca. Fernanda was the president.
The organization is dedicated to the dissemination of organ and tissue donation. He also collaborated with people with disabilities.
The graduate met the reference from Roca through the Apple Festival.
“Every year she put up a publicity stand at the party. One day I contacted her to go together, it was the most logical thing for us from the Ministry of Health to add her to work. That was how we met,” she recalled.
These shared stands started in 2010.
“This year he will not be in the position due to his recent death. We are very sorry from the Cucai. Surely next year there will be other people who will continue this work and they will be welcomed as their partners in the foundation”, he expressed.

Ana Senesi, the director of the Roca hospital, still remembers the last message that Fernanda sent her. “A few days ago he had sent me an audio, he wanted to be part of the hospital cooperative, he had a push,” she said excitedly.
During a campaign to encourage blood donation, Ana and Fernanda met. “We started talking and Dr. Mercedes Alba was also there. It turned out that the three of us were joined by the doctor Pablo Masari, a reference in kidney transplantation, I worked for him in Córdoba in an important clinic where they performed transplants and she received a transplant there. Alba had completed the residency with this doctor, ”she recalled.
Ana doesn’t forget how wonderful Fernanda was. “When we met, we realized that we had a lot in common. From there we began to work always because she was a very important reference in raising awareness,” she said.
“Every time she carried out a campaign with her Celebrate Life foundation, we accompanied her and held festivals together to add to the hospital,” she said.
“He was characterized by his resilience,” she expressed with emotion.
