According to the Irish Independent, Celtic will not sign Fergal Harkin from Manchester City this summer.
Harkin currently serves as the city’s director of football associations and was long expected to become Celtic’s director of football.
The Daily Record reported last week that Harkin had turned down a key role at Lommel in Belgium because he looked ready for Celtic.

Sky Sports even suggested over the weekend that Harkin was the man who recommended Ange Postecoglou to Celtic as his new managerial target.
In Harkin’s post at City, he has worked closely with Yokohama F. Marinos, the club that manages Postecoglou, so a double deal seemed to make sense for them to join forces.
However, it is now claimed that Harkin is loyal to City and will not be heading to Celtic, despite having talks about a switch to Parkhead.

This report claims that the position of director of football was never offered to Harkin and that he had no say in Postecoglou’s move.
This all seems very strange, as Harkin seemed to be ready for work and the Postecoglou seemed to line up perfectly with Harkin entering.
Now Celtic must go back to the drawing board, with Eddie Howe and now Harkin not heading to Glasgow when it seemed they both would.
