Ferencváros starts as a guest in the Faroe Islands in the Champions League qualifiers

Klaksvík, founded in 1904, is a 20-time Faroese champion, and on the international stage it went the longest in the 2020/2021 season, when it was able to play for the EL main table, but fell short against the Irish Dundalk. The Faroese team has met Hungarian rivals twice in the European cup series, both times with FTC’s arch-rival Újpest. In 1997, the purple and whites bid farewell to Klaksvík in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Cup with a double win, and in 2002, after a draw away from home, they won 1-0 at home and eliminated the Faroese team again.

If Ferencváros succeeds in their first qualifying round duel, they will meet Swedish BK Häcken or Welsh New Saints FC in the next round. There, FTC will start at home and play the second leg away.

The first match of the match against Klaksvík will be held on Tuesday from 20.45 and will be broadcast live by M4 Sport. The second leg will take place next Wednesday at the Groupama Arena, and if Ferencváros advances, they will play at home in the next round on July 25 or 26, and play the second leg a week later.
