TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Executive Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies of the Police (Lemkapi) Dr Edi Hasibuan said, the special placement of the former Head of the National Police Propam Division, Inspector General Pol. Ferdy Sambo at Mako Brimob is a form of firm action for his alleged involvement in the shooting of Brigadier J.
“This firm action will make the public more believe that the Police are very serious, transparent and open in handling this case,” said Edi in a written statement in Jakarta, Sunday, August 7, 2022.
According to Police Regulation Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Code of Professional Ethics and the Police Code of Ethics Commission, special placements are places appointed by the police leadership in enforcing the code of ethics.
Special placements can be carried out before the implementation of the code of ethics trial for reasons of security, public attention, running away or repeating actions. Police who undergo special placements are prohibited from leaving the location without the permission of their superiors. “From the beginning, we said that there would be a surprise surprise by the Police in the last few days against Ferdy Sambo,” said Edi.
This academic from Bhayangkara University, Jakarta, said that the shooting of Brigadi J took a long time to come to light because there were efforts by other parties to remove evidence and clean up the location of the incident or the crime scene (TKP).
As a result of the actions of other parties, he said, the Special Police Team headed by Inspector General of General Supervision Komjen Pol Agung Budi Maryoto and the person in charge of the Deputy Chief of Police, Komjen Pol Gatot Edy Pramono, encountered difficulties in the field.
In addition, he said, the lack of witnesses and the loss of surveillance camera (CCTV) footage also complicates the investigation. “Thanks to the hard work of the entire National Police Special Team, the efforts of a conspiracy to eliminate evidence and hinder the legal process have finally been uncovered,” he said.
25 officers have been checked
The Special Police Team has examined 25 officers, including Ferdy Sambo, because they are considered to have complicated the legal process for the death of Brigadier Josuha. They have been removed and do not rule out the possibility of undergoing a code of ethics and criminal trial process.
“They are considered not to carry out their duties professionally and violate the Police Code of Ethics,” said this police observer.
He assessed that the Special Police Team, which had been working well, continued to investigate and did not hesitate to identify suspects if they were proven to have obstructed the investigation.
Previously, the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Pol Dedi Prasetyo at the National Police Headquarters, Saturday (6/8) night, said that Ferdy Sambo was suspected of violating the procedures for handling the scene of the death of Brigadier J at his official home in Duren Tiga, South Jakarta.
Dedi emphasized that the special placement for Ferdy Sambo was not for the purpose of detaining and naming a suspect in a criminal act. “Once again, this process must be carried out in an independent, accountable manner and the process must be fast according to the order of the National Police Chief,” he said.
Brigadier J was killed in a shooting at the official residence of the Propam Kadiv on July 8, 2022. Police chief formed a special team to handle this case because there was a handling violation that caused a polemic in the public.
