Former national team striker Martin Fenin has had a horrific experience after visiting a football match. Together with his wife Beáta, they were at the Camp Nou on Thursday to support the attacker’s former club, but when they left the stadium, they were brutally attacked by fans of home colors. To make matters worse, Fenin and his wife were arrested by the police and left in custody for 36 hours.
The 35-year-old forward, who is currently kicking I. A class behind the Prague Reporyje, has posted a video of the attack on his Instagram. “After the match at Nou Camp, we were attacked and subsequently imprisoned for 36 hours in the biggest shit on earth without food or drink,” he wrote of the horrific footage, adding a comment in German. “Bravo Barca, Bravo Spain,” he added.
After the incident, they and his wife were arrested and placed in a pre-trial detention cell. According to Fenin, the situation was most pronounced on Beata, who can be seen in the video in a red jacket trying to prevent a fight. “My wife is really bad at it, I don’t jump too well either. But maybe we will fly home tomorrow,” Fenin told the daily Blesk.
The former footballer of Teplice, Eintracht Frankfurt or Slavia complained that he had problems communicating with Spanish police officers at all. “No one asked us anything, no one spoke English or German,” says Fenin. “It was only two hours ago (Saturday morning) that we were released from custody after almost 40 hours. I will comment on that tomorrow,” he added.
Barcelona fans apparently could not bear the frustration of the surprising elimination of the Catalan club in the quarterfinals of the European League. After the initial draw 1: 1 in Frankfurt at home, the favorite of the competition lost to the German team 2: 3.
