Fenerbahce received a condition for chanting Putin’s name

Fenerbahce have been suspended by UEFA for chanting the name of Russian President Vladimir Putin. If the Turkish club violates it in the next two years, part of the stand with a capacity of five thousand seats will be closed.

Fenerbahce fans were guilty in the rematch of the 2nd preliminary round of the Champions League with Dynamo Kyiv. The Istanbul team lost 1:2 at home and, after a goalless draw in the first match, moved to the 3rd preliminary round of the European League, where they beat Slovácko 3:0 in the first match.

Fenerbahce fans started chanting the name of Russian President Putin, who is behind the military invasion of Ukraine, after Vitaly Bujalsky put the visitors in the lead in the 57th minute.

In addition to the conditional closure of part of the stadium, Fenerbahce was also fined 50,000 euros (about 1.2 million crowns) for “throwing objects and provocative chanting of an offensive nature”.
