Marc Marquez celebrates his victory in the Valencia Moto2 race at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Valencia, Spain, November 11, 2012.

BOLASPORT.COM – Ducati Sports Director, Paolo Ciabatti, revealed the reason behind their failure to get Marc Marquez as a racer.

Reported by BolaSport.com from Marca, Paolo Ciabatti said that his party withdrew regularly after learning that Marc Marquez had been “fenced off” with around 15-20 million US dollars, equivalent to Rp 213.2-284.2 billion per year by Honda.

In fact, before knowing the information, Ducati had contacted Marquez and started the initial talks related to their interest in bringing the MotoGP world champion.

Moreover, in the last three seasons, Ducati has always been in the position of almost becoming a world champion.

As of 2017, Ducati can only take their best driver, Andrea Dovizioso, to be runner-up the MotoGP world.

“It’s not true that we never contacted him (Marc Marquez),” Paolo Ciabatti said.

“The reality is he immediately informed us that his priority was to continue his career with Honda.”

“In the meantime, the Japanese stronghold has enclosed him with a figure if not 20 million US dollars, yes 15 million US dollars per year. We are unlikely to match that figure,” Ciabatti said again.
