Feminist collective launches online coffee store

With the aim of reaching new national and international markets, women coffee growers who are members of a feminist coffee collective from the municipality of Tenango de Doria created their online store, reported Monserrat Olvera Garrido, producer and co-founder of the Las Adelitas women’s coffee group.

He considered that innovation in the digitalization of rural businesses represents a great opportunity for rural women to enter technological trends and promote their products, making them reach a large number of consumers.

“Finally we managed to consolidate our ecommerce (online store), where customers will have direct contact to place their orders, they will have first-hand information, we will have an informative and educational blog about the consumption of culture of coffee,” he shared.

He shared that since the creation of the collective they have fought for economic empowerment as a tool for access to human rights through the commercialization of coffee and migrating from conventional coffee in commodity markets to specialty coffee.

On the other hand, he announced that for the following year due to the El Niño phenomenon they are predicting that there will be little coffee, “the biannual period affects us. It is an issue of innovation in the field that we have to resolve, because it is not possible for one year to have a lot and the other nothing, which has to do with nutrition, agronomic management and public policies,” he lamented.

“We are going to try to resolve this biennial issue, to have at least one good harvest a year. Manage to have our harvests uniform with the renewal of plants, with agronomic management, with all the invocations,” he concluded. the co-founder of the group
