At first instance Padovani was sentenced to life imprisonment and the Prosecutor’s Office requested confirmation of the sentence. «Before the first instance sentence I was very emotional, I didn’t even want to speak. This time I knew to speak. Having revealed that I have nothing – said the accused – I deserve a life sentence, I am clearly sorry and I apologize to Alessandra’s family, her friends and the institutions. I certainly find myself here still with psychiatric problems, even if some say that this is not the case. I have an obsession with Alessandra, I think about her every day and I know that there is something wrong, this makes me suffer.”
Padovani added: «I have the burden of having taken the life of a woman I love and am still obsessed with, when reason abandons you you do incredible things. I have never been jealous of the women I have been with. In this case there were some toxic dynamics.
