“We are all Ana Cristina”, “Enough Femminicidio”. More than a thousand people arrived in Saltara di Colli al Metauro, in the province of Pesaro Urbino, to participate in the torchlight procession in memory of Ana Cristina Duarte Correia, the 38-year-old of Brazilian origins, mother of three children, killed at home with five stab wounds to the abdomen on the night between the night of September 6 and 7, by her husband Ezio Di Levrano, 54 years old, originally from Brindisi, while their three children were at home. A demonstration that was born for Ana Cristina but that wants to put an “end” to violence against women, as evidenced by the shouts of the participants before the start of the procession, which started at 8 pm from the cemetery of Saltara and headed towards piazza corso Matteotti”.
Torches, signs and even a Brazilian flag. “The large presence of citizens, authorities, institutions and the Brazilian community at today’s torchlight procession, testifies to the closeness that we all have to the pain of family and friends. – says the mayor of Colli al Metauro, Pietro Briganti – We are here to give strength and hope, to encourage women to report acts of violence, to not feel like those who have facilitated or favored the latter which is instead the result of a cultural backwardness of us men who must learn to manage conflict with women”. “A family has been destroyed, what will happen to the children now? – say the women of the Brazilian community – Enough violence, we are here to be heard and to represent women not only in Brazil but in the world. Too many times we report and ask for help but no one listens to us – then another cry – Enough feminicides! Justice!”.
