Tepic, Nay., Jesús Adrián N., who last Saturday murdered Norma Judith Ulloa Vargas, his partner, with a sharp weapon, was prosecuted by a control judge and could face up to 75 years in prison, authorities reported.

The man is accused of the alleged crime of aggravated femicide, which occurred on August 31, as provided for and sanctioned in the Penal Code for the state of Nayarit. Meanwhile, he is hospitalized at the “Venustiano Carranza” Social Reintegration Center in this capital.

Investigations indicate that the couple was at their home in the Las Cumbres subdivision in the capital when “at a certain point he physically attacked her, causing fatal injuries.”

The prosecution also stated that the accused was given “the precautionary measure of preventive detention, which was justified.”

“In addition, a six-month period was established for the conclusion of the complementary investigation, a period during which the ministerial authority will continue to gather evidence against the accused for the next stage of the legal process,” the state agency said.

Meanwhile, Congresswoman Jocelyn Fernández, president of the Special Commission for the Investigation of Femicides of the Congress of Nayarit, reported that the accused could face up to 75 years in prison for such aggravated femicide.

“I can’t stop thinking about the doctor’s daughter. I knew Judith on a personal level, it hurt us a lot because she was very loved by her colleagues, her students and her patients. I can’t stop thinking that she left this world in terror and fear,” he said, noting that the Penal Code provides for a sentence of up to 75 years in prison and 2,600 days of fines.
