PARIS, KOMPAS.TV – A female police officer was stabbed to death inside a police station near the historic Rambouillet castle outside Paris, France on Friday (23/4/2021). The police immediately shot dead the perpetrator at the scene.
The prosecutor immediately opened an investigation into this terrorism case. Anti-terrorism prosecutor Jean-Francois Ricard said his party took over the investigation due to a number of reasons, namely the perpetrator had stalked the police station, the perpetrator’s statement during the attack and because the perpetrator targeted police officers.
There was no mention of the identity or motive of the perpetrator. French media identified the perpetrator as a 37-year-old Tunisian-born French national who had no previous criminal record or radicalism.
French Prime Minister Jean Castex pledged and determined to combat all forms of terrorism. In recent years, a number of Islamic extremists and others have carried out terror attacks in France, including those targeting police.
