Female laureates turned out to be three men

It was not a Spanish woman who received the prize from the king’s hand. Instead, three men came on stage to receive the Premio Planeta for the novel “La Bestia”, reports the Financial Times. Behind the pseudonym Carmen Mola are Jorge Díaz, Agustín Martínez and Antonio Mercero, all three of whom are screenwriters who, among other things, worked on Spanish TV series.

The three men will now share equally in the price, which this year has been increased from 600,000 euros to 1 million euros (10.91 million kronor), which makes it monetaryly larger than the Nobel Prize in literature, which this year is 10 million kronor, states the Financial Times .
