“Female Golden Palm Winners in Cannes History: Jane Campion and Julia Ducourneau”

The only past female Golden Palm winners were New Zealand’s Jane Campion (“The Piano” – 1993) and France’s Julia Ducourneau, who won two years ago with “Titane”, a Franco-Belgian co-production.

Ducourneau was also part of the eight-member jury this year and handed over the Grand Prix prize to director Jonathan Glazer for “The zone of interest”. Last year, Belgian director Lukas Dhont won this award with his film “Close”.
