Fellner is media maker of the year

Industry choice. The media specialist magazine “Extradienst” has chosen the publisher and managing director of the ÖSTERREICH media group, Wolfgang Fellner, as media maker of the year. In the current edition of Extra Service, a 38-member jury has chosen “Mister AUSTRIA” as “Communicator 2020”. With this title, the extra service honors the “most successful, competent and influential personality in the media, communication and advertising industry”.

Wolfgang Fellner had been in the “Top 3” of the Communicator classification for years – but he secured himself first place for the first time. In addition, with the highest point advantage – awarded by the jury – since the start of the communicator election.

Wolfgang Fellner won the overall rating of the jury, which consisted of 38 top advertisers, media makers and communication experts, with 967 points ahead of Krone publisher Christoph Dichand, who is currently defending his Krone reign against violent takeover attempts, and before Alex Wrabetz, the invincible ORF boss, who also “survived” turquoise blue, both of which landed second with 921 points ex aequo.

Wolfgang Fellner not only won the overall ranking confidently, he was also ranked 1st in the detailed categories “The most competent”, 2nd in the “Most Influential” (behind Wrabetz) and 3rd in the “Most likeable”.

According to the jury’s judgment, Wolfgang Fellner has had a particularly successful and innovative year. Fellner has:

  • The circulation and number of readers of the daily newspaper ÖSTERREICH / oe24 increased significantly as the only print medium last year.

  • Started a new, exciting political and business magazine with the insider.

  • With “oe24.at” the “online empire” expanded most aggressively.

  • With Radio Austria, a new national radio station has been successfully launched for the first time in 15 years.

  • And with oe24.TV a model for a new, digital news TV has been created, which is now recognized and copied not only in Austria, but throughout Europe.

After all, “WoFe” with his Fellner! Live also created a new, personal talk show that is becoming more successful every month and is increasingly in the top ten most-watched TV shows on the main evening.

Fellner celebrated this Thursday! Live with 120,000 viewers (!) In an interview in which HC Strache exclusively announced his candidacy for Vienna, a new viewer record. Fellner dismantled the talk show Fussi, which was launched against him with enormous advertising effort at the same time by the Puls4 group, the first time it was broadcast – it achieved ten times (!) The number of viewers of the competition (only 12,000 viewers).

The extra service comments on the jury’s verdict: “Yes, WoFe has become an undisputed legend in the Austrian media landscape. With a 360-degree offer that covers print, online, TV and radio. ”And the extra service sums it up:“ WoFe = Famous. Notorious. Basta. Feared. Hated. Scolded. Celebrated. Blessed. Appreciated. ”And announces:“ Wolfgang-Dampf-in-alle-Gassen is already planning his next street sweeper… ”

Wolfgang Fellner restricts: “This number 1 title goes in equal parts to my son Niki, without whose efforts success in online and TV would not be possible, and to the terrific AUSTRIA and oe24 team that gave me success meanwhile pretty easy. “And:” My only advantage is that, since my TV show, suddenly everyone who used to see me skeptically love me. That’s just the miracle television… ”
