After a fall from the New Main Bridge in Marktheidenfeld in the Main-Spessart district, a 29-year-old man died in hospital on Wednesday night. According to initial investigative findings, police say that there are indications of a tragic accident. Indications on a strange being to blame for are so far not present. At around 11:30 p.m., the Operations Center received a report of a seriously injured person lying under the New Main Bridge.
Deceased in hospital
When officers from the Marktheidenfeld police department arrived at the scene, the fire department and ambulance service were already on the scene. The emergency services fought for the life of the man, who had suffered the most serious injuries in the fall, and took him to a hospital. Still in the night reached the police the message that he died in the hospital. The deceased is a 29-year-old from the Main-Spessart district.
Balancing on narrow footbridge
In the course of the initial investigation, it became known that he was on the New Main Bridge together with his girlfriend. In their presence, the man apparently climbed over the bridge railing in order to balance on an approximately 80-centimeter-wide footbridge. This led to the serious accident in which the 29-year-old fell from a height of around ten meters into the depths. There are currently no indications that would point to a criminal act in connection with the fall of the 29-year-old.
