The ex-president Felipe Calderon alluded on Twitter to the poem quoted by the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in response to the writer’s statements Francisco Martin Moreno when referring in a literary metaphor that I would burn alive morenistas in the Zocalo.
Calderón took up a fragment of the poem written by Pastor Martin Niemöller entitled “Primero came,” to which he modified the text referring to political opponents, journalists and writers.
“First they came for the adversaries, and I kept quiet because I was not a politician. Then they came for the journalists, and I kept quiet because I was not a journalist. Then they came for the writers, and I kept silent because I was not a writer. When they came for me, I no longer there was no one who could protest, “wrote the former president.

In addition, the also former president, Vicente Fox, shared the message of Calderón saying “How true!”.

Calderón’s message caused various users to react and respond to his publication, also returning to the fragment and recalling some of the decisions he made during his administration, such as the war on drug trafficking, the fire of the ABC nursery, as well as his relationship with the former head of the Ministry of Public Security, Gerardo Garcia Luna, who is being held in New York.
The foregoing occurs after President López Obrador responded to an analysis published on social networks by the writer Francisco Martín Moreno, in which the historian is heard saying: “I therefore propose that if we could go back to the time of Inquisition, I hung each one, I did not hang up, I burned each one of the Morenoites alive in the capital’s Zócalo ”.

Given this assertion, the president took up a message issued in 2017 on his social networks in which he pointed out that he is “a bad writer dedicated to exploiting ignorance and conservatism in society.”
I was not wrong in February 2017 when Martín Moreno said – with the stridency that characterizes him – that he would not vote for me. However, now that he maintains that he would burn us morenists one by one in the Zócalo, as in the Inquisition, I am concerned … 1/4 https://t.co/vtuJklVcAU

“Now that he maintains that he would burn us morenists one by one in the Zócalo, as in the Inquisition, I am concerned not only by the spread of hatred, but by the overwhelming silence of the supposed antifascists,” said López Obrador and recalled the fragment from the poem attributed to Martin Niemöller.
“When the Nazis sought out the communists / I kept quiet / because I was not a communist. When the Social Democrats were imprisoned / I kept quiet / because I was not a Social Democrat. When they looked for the Catholics / I did not protest / because I was not a Catholic. // When they looked for me / there was no one / who could protest ”.
For his part, Francisco Martín Moreno shared his full participation in a radio program and accused that a “fraudulently edited” version of his analysis on the disappearance of public trusts was broadcast, which, he said, constitutes an attack against the nation.
Yesterday, on the radio, I argued that “if we lived in the Inquisition, I would burn the Morenistas alive in the capital’s zócalo.” In my work I have opposed violence and defended human rights. I offer a sincere apology for the inappropriate literary metaphor for social media.

He also offered an apology for the inappropriate literary metaphor of the networks and maintained that he has opposed violence and has also defended human rights.
