CONAKRY- What happened to get there? This is the question on everyone’s lips, after the process was completed without the threat of a new blockage looming. The happy outcome of the crisis which has undermined the house of Guinean football for years is no longer wishful thinking. It is now a reality that will forever be engraved in the marbles of the tormented history of Guinean football..
To get there, undoubtedly, time has played its part. He got the better of the ardor of the rebels who ended up changing their minds. Under duress or in good faith, it doesn’t matter. What is worth remembering is that the 65 statutory members all responded to the call. Better yet, they all voted. To this end, they refused to be passive actors in the choice of their new leaders. That’s done!
The other major fact that sets tongues wagging is the election of Bouba Dinah Sampil. The man was surprised. He was announced as the loser after his divorce from KPC, the president of Hafia, one of the essential players in Guinean football. Despite everything, the former President of the ASK held on and believed in his chances, by redoubling his efforts with new approaches. He ended up winning the elections with 37 votes out of a possible 65, widening a large gap with his direct pursuer, Almamy Sylla, who came second with 28 votes.
Bouba is undoubtedly passionate about football. He bled for football. Literally and figuratively.
With ASK, his favorite club, he enjoyed success to the point of being close to the summit of African football, with a CAF Cup final, unfortunately, lost to Etoile du Sahel (Tunisia). With the same club, Bouba experienced disillusionment. But despite his misadventures, he always stayed there.
In short, man’s journey is punctuated by successes and great unmet challenges. His victory may lead us to dwell on this past to question his ability to succeed in his mission. That of bringing together the players first, before developing football, because we fear in humans a desire to hit back. Especially when we have a certain Salifou Camara Super V, considered too much of a revenger, who whispers in his ears and who, moreover, has the exclusive attention of the new leader, there is reason to fear. There is reason to fear a crisis simply postponed thanks to these elections.
Despite this risk, we can hope that the new elected head of the Guinean football federation will thwart all the bad predictions, to make his reign a model of management.
