Beginning on October 28, the government will establish a new two-tier system for self-funded nucleic acid testing services and increase express services, as well as expand self-funded testing service locations to 85 community testing centers and testing stations. community tests. In addition, as of November 8, eligible citizens are required to pre-register to receive the test for free.

Some people can continue to use the free testing services

Starting November 8, some citizens who can take advantage of the free test services must make an appointment online or use the “Test Registration Code” in the “Safe Travel” mobile app to register for the free test.

Some citizens eligible for the free test include:

How to register for “Safe Travel”

Use the “Test Registration Code” in the “Safe Travel” mobile app to register at the test point. Those exempted from using the “Safe Travel” mobile application can receive free tests at community testing centers / test stations without making an appointment or use a “test registration code”.

The “Safe Travel” mobile app (version 3.4.2 or later) has added the “Check Registration Code” feature, allowing the public to fill in registration information in advance to generate a user-specific QR code for the On-site scanning of manual input information to simplify the registration process for nucleic acid testing.

Self-paid test service fees

Out-of-pocket tests are available for common or private use, such as travel or employment tests. Self-paid testing services are divided into “standard self-paid services” and “express self-paid services”. Citizens can pay in cash (except community test stations) or contactless payment methods such as Octopus, mobile payment or credit card.

“Standard self-paid service” and “Express self-paid service” charges:

  • Standard self-paid service: the maximum limit of the service charge is 150 yuan, and the certificate of the nucleic acid test result can be received within 24 hours of sampling for negative test results

  • Self-Paid Express Service: The maximum limit of the service charge is 240 yuan, and the certificate of the nucleic acid test result can be received within 12 hours of sampling for negative test results

Since positive samples need to be reviewed, it may take longer for the testing agency to issue a certificate of results. In addition, the self-financed service costs of different community test centers / test stations may be different and the contractor may charge a service fee below the maximum limit.
